ENCE Ala May 23 Work was proceeding Tuesday at the dam on the Tennessee river at the end of Wilson lake according to officials. Army and engineering sources said construction continued with 5434 yards of concrete poured and forms being filled while plans were altered to allow later conversion for a power dam project near Muscle Shoals.

W C Lovell a 17 year old African American was shot and killed on Sabine bottoms Tuesday less than ten minutes after he allegedly attacked a white woman on a farm four miles east of Carthage Texas authorities report the incident occurred in the Sabine bottoms area near Carthage on May 23.
Baton Rouge La May 23 A survey tour to locate 25 road camps where thousands of unemployed will build roads behind levees in flood prone sections of the state began Tuesday led by Wade O Martin chairman of the Louisiana flood control committee and Harry Jacobs chief of state engineers The effort follows conferences with federal officials on including levee road work in national reforms

London May 23 Robert W Bingham new United States ambassador rode in a royal carriage to Buckingham Palace met King George presented his credentials along with Ray Atherton and embassy chiefs. The king not in uniform due to arm rheumatism and the party wore formal morning clothes. The two exchanged friendly remarks.
