The ocean steamer Imperator was launched today in Stettin Germany, hailed as a new giant of the seas. Shipbuilders and city officials celebrated the launch as a milestone for German maritime prowess.
Hamburg May 23 The Hamburg American Line launched the Imperator the biggest passenger vessel in the world with expected displacement of 52 000 tons and carrying capacity for 5000 passengers and crew Emperor William as sponsor The ship surpasses the Titanic in size and length by about 20 feet

Berlin May 23 A Hamburg America liner Imperator to be the largest ship afloat surpassing Olympic and Titanic in length and tonnage. Built with eleven decks and vast amenities from a mile long promenade to imperial baths and a Ritz Carlton restaurant, the vessel promises unmatched size and comfort for early next winter trans Atlantic service.
The Hamburg American Line plans a new liner named Goliath of the Ocean with Frahn deck technology to reduce ship motion. It will prioritize comfort over speed with a seven day Atlantic crossing. The ship will carry about 5 000 people and feature extensive Marconi gear for continuous Europe America communications.
United States Consul Frank D Hill of Minnesota was killed today in Frankfort on Main after falling over a hotel staircase railing. Authorities say the accident appeared caused by a spell of dizziness.

The National Executive Committee of the Transport Workers Federation orders a general strike in support of Thames lightermen. About 150000 workers are involved as all port transport in London is brought to a standstill.
