Funeral services incom plete for Earl B. Skoog twin brother of Edward H. Skoog Sr. Monroe service station owner. Earl died Sunday afternoon at home in Maywood Illinois aged 58. Survivors include brothers Carl H. Skoog Sr Arlington Heights Illinois and Vernon Skoog Birmingham Alabama and sister Mrs Elsie Johnson Clovis New Mexico.
Miss Dixie M. Williams, a Monroe coed, is appointed chairman of the Louisiana State University union committee’s radio and television subcommittee, taking a key role in campus media oversight.
Northeast Louisiana State College students elected a full slate of officers for the Student Government Association in campus elections Monday. William Bobo of Kilbourne was chosen president, George Abbott of Jonesboro vice president, Martha McCabe of Oak Grove secretary, and Elliott Goldman of Shreveport treasurer. Liberal arts representatives Milton Platt of Monroe and Benjamin L. Rogers of Minden, plus pharmacy reps Richard Autin of Jennings and Robert Curry of Sterlington, join. Mickey Moody of Monroe won the senior class vice presidency in the sole runoff.
A group linked to the Nation of Islam and occupying a leased building faced charges from disturbing the peace to aggravated battery. Convictions were returned by Monroe city court on April 4 with fines up to 400 dollars, later upheld on appeal by Fourth District Court judge Jesse S. Heard.
The draft measures include repealing a law taxing dog racing and requiring bus operators to buy out deceased operators, plus proposed raccoon hunting rules and park naming references. The notes mention Bruin State Park and Bruinayside Park in connection with local governance.

On passage of a bill allowing import restrictions on cotton textiles for nations outside the 16 nation pact Ellender supported passage. Ellender was recorded as favoring passage with no roll calls noted.
