Baton Rouge May 21 A rising anti liquor movement tactics slow liquor legislation in the Louisiana General Assembly with a round robin pledge not to vote on local options. Rev A W Turner of the Anti Saloon League hints at a statewide prohibition push while urging local relief from bootlegging and blind tiger activity. City Senators’ support for the governor’s probe effort against the Smith resolution is questioned as motives and alliances are explored.

In Ruston Louisiana on May 21 a long running grudge between farmers B. P. Sanderson and Will Hinton led to a deadly exchange at Brasheer's sawmill. Hinton shot Sanderson with buckshot and Sanderson returned fire, killing Hinton with a single-barrel blast to the head. Sanderson, wounded, was rushed to Shreveport for treatment.
In Washington on May 21 Representative Richmond Pearson Hobson said he and allies would likely not press the national prohibition resolution this session. The move suggested anti liquor forces expect a defeat and pause action. Opposition member J Bryan pressed Hobson as to delaying the vote. Hobson denied the claim.
