Mrs. J. S. Rowe, 78, died at her Minden home Thursday morning. She was mother of T. C. Landers of West Monroe. Funeral services set for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Minden First Methodist Church. Body in state at Green Cloninger Funeral Home until service time.
Mrs C G Murphy aged about 73 died Friday morning in a local hospital from a heart attack. She lived at 1811 Trenton West Monroe. The body lies in state at Hall Funeral Home until 1 30 Saturday. Funeral services are at 2 pm Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Elder Travis Tynes presiding. Burial in Mt Nebo cemetery near Farmerville. She is survived by four sons S B E Redden J L Redden A E Redden of West Monroe and G D Redden of Monroe and one grandson. Pallbearers listed.
James P. Duncan 85 of Ferriday died in a Natchez hospital Friday. Services Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church Vidalia with Rev G F Steisbrough officiating. Interment Natchez Cemetery under Young's Funeral Home direction. Survivors include wife Lettie Duncan of Ferriday three sons J T Duncan John L Duncan Roy Duncan all of Vidalia three daughters Lillie Wilbanks Fannie Baxter Minnie Clum all of Vidalia Pallbearers Bill Martin James Celm Dean Wilbanks Roy Wilbanks J A Wilbanks M L House J D Cross.
James Marion Hardy 42 of Rayville died in Susanville California Sunday in a lumber yard accident. He was aboard a work crew when the fatal incident occurred. Funeral arrangements are pending with local Rayville services.
The third annual Cerebral Palsy Celebrity Parade begins at 10 30 p m Saturday in Monroe running to 3 p m Sunday on television. Stars include Jack Smith Keefe Brassele Miss Bonnie Lake and Astro of Space Cadets with Smith as master of ceremonies for the 16 hour telethon.
The body arrived in Rayville Friday night and funeral services are set for 2 30 p m Saturday at the Main Church of God. Interment will follow in the Stevenson Cemetery near Rayville under Mulhearn Funeral Home direction. Survivors include wife Frances a son Larry and two daughters Sonia and Sherry all of Rayville. Also listed are parents Mr and Mrs B F Hardy Sr of Rayville two sisters Bell Gallman of Rayville and Cecil Battenfield of Transylvania one brother B F Hardy Jr of Pittsburgh Pa. Pallbearers are Marvin Payne Paul Loague Henry Earl Stevenson Fray Walsh John T Clack Henry Smith Norman McKnight Leonard Freeland and Harry Lee Freeland.
The Winn Parish Citizens Council elected a board of directors and approved resolutions praising the Citizens Council of Ouachita for removing illegally registered persons from voting rolls. It urged interposition against mixed boxing and commended Louisiana Tech for canceling the Air Force Academy Tech game.
About one thousand people from across northeast Louisiana, including Citizens Council officials, gathered to rebuke the May 17 1954 Supreme Court decision on school desegregation.
