Chicago May 19 The Western Association of Railways denounced the planned strike by the AFL switchmen against 10 railroads as wholly unjustified calling it a reckless bid for prestige. It warned only government intervention could avert the 6 am walkout potentially affecting 6 000 union members and 4 000 workers on western lines as mediation boards had recently settled a wage dispute.
