Dr Shailer Mathews renowned educator and religious leader receives an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Glasgow University and continues as dean of the University of Chicago Divinity School. A Colby graduate and former Baptist minister, he joined Colby College faculty before moving to Chicago in 1894 and rising to full professor. In 1912 he served as president of the Federal Council of Churches.
