Escapees Arrested By Monroe Police
Monroe city detectives arrested 28 year old John Aaron of West Monroe at 8 a m Tuesday. He was wanted in Rapides parish since May 8 for escaping from a road gang in Alexandria with E I Jackson of Glenmore La. Jackson remains at large. Aaron was booked at the city hall and later sent to the parish jail for transfer to Rapides parish officials.

Plan to tax cities gains from 1950 census data
A Louisiana House bill proposed by Rep. Ted Hickey of New Orleans would distribute cigarette tax revenues to municipalities using 1950 census figures rather than 1940. New Orleans Baton Rouge and Shreveport would receive first chance at any surplus, with revised per capita distributions for cities by population range. Just Mad Arkansan Grabs Police Revolver on Bus Shooting
Cleveland dispatch reports Lawrence Goldsby 20, from Pine Bluff Arkansas, grabbed a policeman's revolver and killed four aboard a crowded bus. Patrolman Eugene Stinchcomb, 55, a woman passenger Annabelle Frankie, 72, and William Powers, about 60, died. Goldsby said he was angry at a woman for burning her hair and fired as locals restrained him.
