Ouachita Parish Disaster Area Soon Declared

Ouachita Parish is to be declared a disaster area by federal and state offices with an official approval possible as early as the week of May 14. Congressman Otto E. Passman said the Dallas office will classify the parish on May 15 and Washington follow later, pending on-site reviews and red tape. Estimated damages reach over 11 million dollars across public and private property with agriculture hit hard by flooding and high river levels.
