Four black inmates escaped from Sabine parish jail at Many after sawing through bars with smuggled tools. About a dozen other prisoners stayed. three men named Henry Williams and Telie Williams plus Bob Allen are identified. Sheriff Skinner hunts fugitives and investigates how tools were obtained.
In Bucharest on May 10, thieves entered Princess Helen's private apartment at the royal palace and stole several valuable jewels belonging to the mother of King Michael. Police report no trace of the robbers yet.

In Chicago on May 10 Mrs Albino De Porre two months a widow killed her three children and killed herself. Neighbors reported she slashed her eldest daughter’s throat then shot a 9 year old boy and an 11 year old girl before taking her own life. Poverty and grief were cited as factors in the tragedy.
Flood waters followed nightly storms causing one death and several injuries across Arkansas. Lemmie Doss, 24, was killed near Crossett by lightning. a wrecked car with three injured travelers followed a small tornado. Ozark area tornadoes unroofed buildings and damaged crops. New Orleans May 10 Cotton disguised as meat stuffed peppers was served at a dinner of the American Oil Chemists Society. Dr David Wesson described a process to make cottonseed parts edible as meat a dry powder mixed with shortening and water. He claimed it could cost ten cents a pound and save oil costs by ten million dollars yearly.
New Orleans weather bureau issued a southeast storm warning from Morgan City to Corpus Christi as a disturbance over the Texas Panhandle moves eastward. Legal aspects were reviewed and methods for classification insurance financing storage and sale were discussed.
