Governor Hall rejects a report from the Clearing House Committee that proposed floating a state bond issue. The plan suggested funding public projects through new debt, but the governor declined to endorse the proposal.
Governor Hall weighs Bayerdorffer plan and other ideas to fund 11 million state bonds due next January. Banks could invest a portion of capital and profits in the issue and be tax exempt, with several schemes under review and bank cooperation anticipated.
The article notes proposed measures to create a banks market for State bonds and issue short term notes of five to seven years to ease financial stringency.
