Colonel Bryan is expected to attend the Good Roads Convention in New Orleans from May 16 to May 19. Officials from the state department will accompany him to discuss highway planning and transportation funding.

New Orleans May 8 The Army Engineers in New Orleans report overall improvement in levees from Vicksburg south despite unconfirmed breaks near Torras crevasse and Moreauville. After ten days of hard labor crews topped low spots and strengthened weak sections, bringing cautious hope to the flood adaptation effort.

British steamer Indore of Liverpool is reported stranded on a French reef in the Florida Straits. Wireless advices indicate the vessel is aground with revenue cutters proceeding to assist.
Washington May 8 The Senate committee deadlocked by a tie vote and did not report favorably on the Nicaraguan and Honduran loan guarantee conventions.
Reports from the relief steamer Wyanoka indicate the Sunflower river flood will persist for about six more weeks. About 100000 rations were distributed, 70000 cattle require care along the river, and 200 refugees were brought back to Vicksburg.
Third baseman Gardella of Mobile and catcher LaFitte of New Orleans were involved in a rough house incident over a fifty dollar dispute during a recent event in Mobile. Police report details are sparse.
