Clarence Ricou announced a new acid process said to create a vacuum that draws oil and gas from existing reservoirs. Demonstrations at Van Horn No. 1 and a Many field well turned dry holes into productive wells, with owners claiming doubled or 1,500 barrel outputs. Legal patent details are pending.
Gilber t high school faculty were reelected for 1933 34 term at a Wisner school board meeting. Principal B R Gunn headed the list with several teachers across elementary grades 1 through 7 named including F E Lyles J A Hendrix Leela Greer Thelma Carruth Emma Young Marian Shields Susie Adams Gaye Pace Nell Latham Laura Bates Christine Newman and Mary Martel.

Eight Lincoln parish farm dairymen received diplomas for excellent 1932 herd records. The North Louisiana Herd Improvement association praised Lincoln parish as the top holder of diplomas in the region. Recipients include J. A. Shealy, J. A. Kolb, T. O. Monday, E. H. Causey, Jack Riser, Henry Hinton, J. S. Tomlinson, C. G. Tomlinson, with Louisiana Polytechnic Institute herd also honored for top average per cow.
R. D. Swayze, commissioner of streets and parks, launches a city cleanup campaign to run through the week. City trucks handled garbage collection and 50 loads of cans and rubbish were removed on Saturday. Residents urged to gather refuse and place it in alley receptacles to aid the effort.

Evangelist Claud McClung preached on the Law of Faith at the Church of Christ on Apple and South Second streets in a revival service drawing a large crowd. The report also notes extensive fall purchases and social moves involving Mr. and Mrs. Martin and others in the city.
J. J. Martin, manager of the J. C. Penney store in Monroe, and Mrs. Martin returned from Fort Worth Texas where he attended a managers meeting with over 100 Penney officials from Texas and Louisiana. Attendees reported business on the upswing with increased store volume and favorable remarks about Monroe operations.
