Granville Childers 16 was found dead in a field near Memphis after being missing since Sunday His mother Mrs Estelle Hill said he suffered bad teeth and used chloroform to dull pain Police hinted at overdose as the likely cause with the body located along a railway track He caddied at golf clubs in the area.
Comptroller John W. Pole announced that resources of 7,316 banks in the United States Alaska and Hawaii fell by 1533985000 in the last three months in the latest call report showing reduced bank resources nationwide and territorial totals.
In Chicago on March 28 Eva Martinez, 30, fired at hotel owner Fred K. Petmezas, striking him in the abdomen. Doctors said the bullet saved his life by preventing a dangerous complication. Martinez, arrested in Aurora and brought to Chicago, claims amnesia and faces unclear statute on lifesaving gunfire.
Henry C. Morris of Dallas told United Press in New Orleans that developing natural gas resources in the south could bring cooling to semi tropical homes. He noted refrigeration by gas has spurred research into cooling units and urged more funding for house cooling research by the American Gas Association. He said gas heating is universal in the south and utilities must build plants to carry the cold.

New York May 6 Two city detectives Frederick W Opperman and John Foran faced the police chief Grover Whalen as he called them traitors for taking a $25 bribe from a speakeasy owner. They were suspended and led away to await trial for extortion.
New Orleans May 6 The Morning Tribune reports a shower of abuses was the only reply Governor Huey P Long gave to a Tribune query about Louisiana highways. he said he was awakened and refused comment. The United States allegedly withheld two million dollars from Louisiana because the highways failed to meet the bureau of public roads specifications.
In Cleveland Charles E. Scoville a 57 year old state hospital inmate confessed to murdering Nellie Kerr a 65 year old destitute widow and nurse whose nude body was found in an abandoned theatre. He claimed she scolded him over untidiness. motive under investigation.
In New York on May 6 the ship America will carry 232 gold star mothers, wives and families of sons who died in France during World War I. The voyage marks the first contingent of nearly 6,000 mothers to sail week by week through the summer, honoring fallen soldiers with the return of the dead.
The Mississippi flag, flown at the South Pole for the first time, was a gift to Lieutenant Governor Bidwell Adams and will be kept in the state archives. Captain Alton Parker, a Mississippi native with Commander Byrd, carried the flag. it was originally furnished by Governor Bilbo.
