Sheriff Arthur Grant returned from Orange Texas with Tom Clarke alias Tom Chester alias Tom Lasens alias W T Smith who faces forging Southern Express money orders totaling 500 dollars in Monroe and West Monroe. Victims included Mike John and the West Monroe State Bank with 1569 dollars each. Clarke allegedly lived with Mrs Sallie Thompson near Chenier in this parish as a married couple under the Smith name. she claimed no involvement. Clarke was previously jailed for a train robbery while with W and P railway. Clarke was captured while near Chenlere.
Baton Rouge May 5 Louisiana guardsmen may attend training camps now. Adjutant General C McCrory received authority from Chief Meno of the militia bureau last night. Members may be discharged on enlisting for training camps with quotas per regiment artillery company battalion and separate company.
In Petrograd crowds last night demonstrated against division and indicated no separation peace. Police controlled the scene as demonstrators pressed for a united stance.

British labor leaders reached Washington on May 5 to join conferences between the British war mission and United States officials.
