In Wonsan harbor on Korea’s east coast two American destroyers Maddox and Laffey were damaged in a prolonged gun duel with North Korean shore batteries. The Maddox suffered near misses and shrapnel holes while the Laffey took 170 rounds. The two ships fired 730 rounds at shore batteries as air and naval forces targeted rail lines and enemy positions.

Judge Seeks Psychiatric Eye On Dog Owner
Detroit a psychologist testified he trained his dog from puppyhood to be well adjusted with a fighting temperament. Judge John D Watts ordered a psychiatric examination for Dan Bulkin 31 after a neighbor complained he let his dog attack hers. Bulkin said he used psychology to foster a wholesome relationship between his three year old husky Sholo Ben and other dogs. He holds a psychology degree from Wayne University 1950. Bulkin was found guilty of letting his dog run at large but the sentence was suspended pending the psychiatric test.
