Jack Smith 31 a newspaper seller and laborer was held in the city jail on tentative charges of aggravated assault and illegal possession of a poisonous drug. Police said a carbolic acid bottle and a larger bottle of carbon disulfide were found on him after his arrest at the Union bus station. The incidents followed attacks on two young women on DeSiard street and prompted Miss Maureen Holliday to aid the investigation after she relayed information from Rusben Aldredge of DeSiard Optical and Jewelry Co.
