A fatal shooting at a negro boarding house near a Cobb lumber Company camp left Alex Stephens dead and Frank oan missing. Lonnie Willis, eyewitness, said Sloan, intoxicated, killed Stephens with a knife and left. Stephens’ kin live in Prescott Arkansas while Sloan, a temporary worker, fled. The hat of the slain man was found nearby and the sheriff posted a $25 reward for Sloan’s capture.
