W. H. Strain of Weston died Tuesday night after a brief illness at his home. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 PM at the Ebenezer Church with Rev. W. T. Strain officiating. Interment followed at Ebenezer Cemetery. Edmond's Funeral Home directed the arrangements. He is survived by his wife and six children.

Baton Rouge March 28 George Caldwell wore improvised prison attire for his arraignment on seven state embezzlement charges joined by Dr Clarence A Lorio. He and Lorio are accused of embezzling university materials valued at 350 dollars. Caldwell remains in custody from Atlanta as trials begin Monday.
With 13 members Troop No 25 of Lake Providence reorganizes for 1940 assisted by Glen R Nordyke deputy regional executive and A B Clarkson Qua chita Valley council president. C L Preston elected scout master and C R Evans named committee chairman with W F Trieschman C A Rose and C E Holly as committee members. Members include Stuart Pittman Carl Bonner Bill Robertson George Lee Thomas Noland John Earl Robertson Gary Frost Jack Ingram Roland Marcus J W Fleming C A Voelker Billy Trieschman and Tommy Bagby. Plans set to form northeast district of the council covering East and West Carroll parishes. A April 9 meeting in Oak Grove will complete organization with Judge Frank Voelker and Lake Providence officers presiding. Nordyke and Black attended West Monroe Kiwanis luncheon with scouting talks to follow. A Cub Pack for West Monroe may be discussed and Troop 1 reorganization by West Monroe Odd Fellows to be effected.
A free lecture on Christian Science will be held tonight at 8 o clock in the Ouachita Parish High School auditorium. Thomas E Hurley C S B of Louisville Kentucky will speak. The public is invited to attend.
Longtime New Orleans political figure Reilly, acting head of the Old Regulars, died after a long illness. He served since 1927 in various posts including deputy public property commissioner under Skelly and was key in maintaining Old Regular leadership through shifting city and state clashes. He led caucus efforts with Maestri allies and was grand marshal of the 1939 St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Northeast Louisiana and southeast Arkansas high schools will receive invitations to visit the Twin Cities during a senior week. An elaborate program is planned including Northeast Junior College, Monroe’s schools, a newspaper plant, radio station KMLB, recreational facilities, and local industries. A Monroe West Monrobe committee will extend personal invites after visiting the schools.
The Apostolic Church of God moves from South Second street to a former store at 2912 South Grand street. Rev. W. T. Hemphill says the opening service is Saturday at 1 45 p.m. with the public invited. Sunday services follow at 11 a.m. and 7 30 p.m. weekly services are Wednesday and Saturday nights.

Members of the First Methodist church boards hosted a luncheon for Dr G L Morelock of Nashville at the church annex Wednesday at 6 30 p m. He opened a three night institute for stewards and lay workers with lectures Thursday and Friday at 7 30 p m. The public is invited.
