Berlin reports Reichsfuhrer Hitler seeks gun for gun parity with France and Russia, excluding navy, in talks with Sir John Simon. He hints at superiority over Russia while urging equal treatment in the League and claiming the treaty arms clauses are effectively revised already.
C T Carpenter attorney for the Southern Tenant Farmers union reports eight to ten cars of armed men parked on his street around midnight. Four or five approached the porch. he was asleep and armed when confronted. They fired two shots and then disappeared as Sheriff J B Dubard guarded the home. no further trouble reported. Carpenter active in defending organizers in the Tenant Farmers union dispute with east Arkansas planters. Continued on third page.

FRANKLINTON La March 27 After questioning one man and arresting another authorities pushed an ERA worker slaying probe. Earl Dedone 39 of Varnado was found with a crushed skull near here. Esco Pierce 22 is under arrest and another man J D Mercier of Varnado is being questioned.
Moscow reports Karl Radek in Izvestia invites Great Britain to cooperate with Soviet Russia to bar war risks. Eden arrives to discuss European peace with Stalin and others as Britain weighs an eastern security pact. Radek warns England against opposing cooperation, saying conflict could cause military catastrophe.
New Orleans March 27 Farmers cotton merchants a banker a cotton broker and a state commissioner of agriculture today expressed widely divergent views on the feasibility of further federal loans to cotton farmers. Some favor the administration program others criticize it.
New Orleans March 27 The Louisiana supreme court will hear salt mining dispute arguments involving Jefferson Island Salt Mining Co over Lake Peigneur bed salt. The state seeks 5 165 280 dollars or eight dollars a ton. District Judge James D. Simon awarded 6 193 48. The state says salt was state property. Simon ruled bed ownership but most salt removed from shore not in dispute.
Four day cooking school will open at Neville high school with Monroe Morning World and News-Star sponsorship. Mrs Kate Stafford will lead sessions on cooking and home economics with daily classes Tuesday to Thursday 2 to 4 and a Thursday night finale.
March winds sweep the plains leaving sand and silt on the landscape. Denver faced a major dust storm described as the worst in 20 years, canceling airplane schedules and hindering traffic. A late snow and sharp temperature drop followed the storm.

Lynch Arpelar, 55, a full blood Choctaw slated to testify in the Thad Compelobe murder case, was found dead eight miles from McAlester. Investigators probe possible poisoning as the witness was to testify today in the Floyd Alford killing last May.
Bernard M. Baruch testified before the senate munitions committee defending himself against insinuations while endorsing a wartime plan to tax profits and fix prices. He supported John T. Flynn's proposal to tax profits over 10,000 dollars and hold industrial profits low to fund national defense and spare future generations.
Geneva March 27. Japan’s resignation from the League of Nations takes effect at midnight and raises doubts over who will control the Pacific islands seized from Germany and placed under Japanese mandate. Tokyo is expected to retain control under supervision of the mandate commission, though sovereignty over the territories remains a delicate question.
Will Watson, 51, a farmer from near Doyle in Livingston Parish, was hospitalized in serious condition with rabies. He arrived unconscious but today showed improvement and a possible chance of recovery. The source could not determine how he contracted the disease and relatives said no dog bite was known.
Army engineers propose emergency flood control work in the lower Mississippi valley. Melvin L. Hanks of Seattle testified to treasury officials about infiltrating a large opium smuggling ring called the Chin group. He remained with the operation 14 months, delivering opium to cities including Detroit and Chicago before authorities struck when the vessel Tantalus docked in Seattle with 200 cans valued at 25 000 dollars.
