Fluitt E. Hundley Jr a pilot cadet and son of Mr and Mrs F E Hundley Sr of 2003 North Third Street has reported to the air corps advanced flying school at Turner Field for the final stage of aviation cadet training. Turner Field sits on the rolling plains of south Georgia and is part of the Southeast Air Corps Training Center as one of the nation’s few navigation schools.
A British merchant vessel was torpedoed and sunk by an enemy submarine off the Atlantic coast on March 18. Four survivors and two bodies were landed at Norfolk. seventeen crewmen were missing. Naval officials received reports of lifeboats and a life raft possibly afloat.
