A severe March blizzard paralyzed Chicago with more than 18 inches of snow, winds adding to the disruption as authorities warned conditions would persist. Four deaths were reported amid the storm's fury and fruit damage was feared from the cold and wind.
Ten policemen hunted a band of wolves blamed for moving from a south side forest preserve into residential areas seeking food. Evanston police and firemen searched for Sheldon Brumbaugh a 26 year old University of Evanston graduate and art student believed to have suffered a heart attack and collapsed in the snow after leaving his sister s tea room last night. He was recovering from a serious heart attack.
Descriptions note continued unabated fall with heavier intensity after noon. Businesses closed early to ease rush hour for paralyzed traction lines as prairie regions of Illinois Indiana lower Michigan and Wisconsin were blanketed by up to 16 inches of snow in some sections.
Mrs. W. H. Spinks of Rusten presides over the annual meeting of the Women's Missionary Society of the Louisiana Conference M. E. Church South in Lake Charles. Mrs. George Brown of New Orleans serves as recording secretary.

Two women, Mrs. Raymond Gallagher and Mrs. Roy Tait, held in Hot Springs Arkansas as police recover between $15,000 and $20,000 linked to a $63,000 New York robbery. Gallagher, said to drive an armored truck, vanished with $63,000 during a bank money delivery.
Police investigate a man known as W. C. Webb who uses the alias G. H. Green amid rumors of murder and crime. Officers H. D. Apgar and L. V. Tarver question him about the Arizona disappearance of G. H. Green as a telegraph warns of a pending arrest for moving a mortgaged auto. Webb, described as mentally unbalanced, claimed wealth and Indian Territory cattle interests while in custody with a Green named automobile and firearms.
Hammond reports Charles Harrell a well known engineer on the Illinois Central Louisiana division died last night in McComb of double pneumonia. He lived here until recently and was an engineer on a local train after years on fast passenger trains. His death is linked to grade crossing incidents. He leaves a widow and two daughters of Jackson Mississippi.
The National League of Women Voters marked ten years of women's suffrage with 42 birthday luncheons nationwide. Carrie Chapman Catt, aged 70, addressed celebrants via a nationwide radio hook-up.
Hollywood reports that Will Hays and the motion picture producers and distributors plan to present a code of ethics for talking pictures at the eastern organization's annual meeting. The proposed code seeks to curb on screen crime and immorality, protect marriage, and bar portrayals that glamorize illegal drug traffic.

K. Kennedy Katherine Hilburn and others. Results will be announced Friday after Tuesday balloting.
Kansas City voters select Bryce B. Smith as mayor by 23726 unofficial margin. Democrats capture eight council seats and two municipal judges. Violence limited while reports say two Republican precinct captains were kidnapped and a Democratic worker was beaten after a car drop. Ten arrests for alleged illegal voting.
Henry T. Prudhomme of Shreveport, named as an accessory in the Bank of Ringgold robbery, allegedly planned to flee with stolen money to South America or Mexico. The claim came from William O Neal, who admitted his role, as Sheriff Currie reported during an official visit. O Neal said Prudhomme hoped to dodge a two year federal sentence tied to an undercover liquor-gang case in Missouri.
In Miami on March 26 Daniel William Faust, 24, died from a self inflicted gunshot after shooting his bride Ella Faust, 23, who was wounded over the right eye and hospitalized. The couple, married two months, returned from a quarrel at a night club before the incident.
United Press reports eight U S submarines entered Miami harbor last night. The S 11 grounded near the turning basin and was pulled off by a tug while the S 14 and S 17 ran onto sand banks but freed themselves. The S 10 struck the Clyde liner Liverpool while warping with no damage done.
In Lewisville Arkansas relatives of former Sheriff J. W. Miller sue for payment of a $10,000 life insurance policy arguing the officer was murdered. The sheriff was found with two bullet wounds and a coroner's jury ruled death by suicide. A letter, alleged from Miller to Miss Fannie Trussell, cited financial troubles and accused his daughter and two Lafayette County officials of robbing him.
President Hoover signed a deficiency bill providing 169.5 million dollars with 100 million immediately available to the federal farm board. The package also includes 12 million for river and harbor work and 150 thousand for the American delegation at the London naval conference. Funds become available immediately.
George M. Sunday 36 son of evangelist Billy Sunday was held by Chicago police for Los Angeles authorities who telegraphed he was wanted for bond forfeiture and adultery. He was arrested on a downtown corner during the storm.
SHREVEPORT March 26 Melvin Goldberg Pine Bluff Ark youth said to be a member of a prominent family there was declared by a jury to be insane and sentenced to the Louisiana hospital for insane at Jackson to remain until his sanity is restored according to law. Goldberg's charge is forgery.
In Ambone's Meditations J P Alley mocks those who boast of their deeds openly while true cunning avoids exposing their plans. The piece uses dialect humor to lampoon the bragging and imply the wiser approach is to stay discreet.
New Orleans officials say Huey P. Longs Louisiana Progress will debut in the morning as an eight page weekly paper with plans for more pages as needed. The publication is tied to the state legislature convening May 12 and may become a daily during the 60 day session.
Walter H. Donellan, charged with murdering his wife Anna Grindmeyer Donellan, applied as executor to administer her estate. His daughter Naomi Donellan contends the estate was her mother’s alone. Donellan, a marble cutter at St. Vincent De Paul cemetery, allegedly killed her with a shotgun after argument.
Police Officer R J Goza was struck by a truck while riding a motorcycle at about 80 miles per hour near the intersection of Ouachita Avenue and Jackson Street. He suffered a dislocated right knee severe bruising to his left leg and other injuries likely to keep him off duty for weeks. An on site examination and x ray at the Clinic found no fracture and identified the knee dislocation as the most serious damage.
Shreveport March 26 Mrs Nell Hughes a young Shreveport woman was convicted by a jury in Caddo district court of stealing a diamond ring from a local jewelry store. She received a sentence of 16 to 24 months in the state penitentiary and is the first white woman sentenced to the penitentiary from Caddo parish since February 1923.
In New Orleans on March 26 John Harper a black man struck Theodore Jackson with stove wood while another black man attacked a fronting assailant with a large knife. Jackson was hospitalized. Police sought a third black man who wielded the knife.
Rufus Thompson a 34 year old Black man struck and killed Lucian Adams 28 Miller County deputy sheriff during an arrest of Thompson's brother in law Roland Cheatham 21 on a stove theft charge in Texarkana Ark Adams died at the scene and a companion Dick Card 28 struck Thompson with an automatic public safety item but caused no fatal injuries. The two suspects were driven away by Sheriff Magee to prevent mob violence and crossed Red River minutes later.
Nancy Bowen, Cayuga Indian and star witness, testifies about the killing of Clothilde Marchand in Buffalo. The case centers on Lila Jimerson, Seneca woman, on trial for murder amid claims of a death curse and white witch rumors. In Shreveport, D R Strickland from Florien is hospitalized after being struck by a truck near Keithville.
A gas explosion at Crown Coal’s Yukon mine in Arnettsville left at least six men dead with five more trapped and presumed dead. Two escaped as rescue crews found two bodies burned beyond recognition. The Yukon site lies 1.5 miles from the Everettsville mine where 102 miners perished four years earlier. Crown Coal is a subsidiary of Imperial Coal Corporation of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, producing about 1200 tons daily.
Two dogs were killed in Lake Charles with signs of rabies. One dog’s head was sent to a lab and tested positive for rabies. It is unknown if the dogs bit other animals, but no persons were bitten.
Elwyn Bentley 60, former Springfield bank president, was found shot to death in his bath tub at his home. The case ties to his past hobby of pulling women's teeth and a St Louis arrest for practicing dentistry. Bentley claimed unprofessional dentistry and treated around 200 women in several cities. He left a bond of 1000 dollars and earlier dissolved his Springfield bank.
