Sen Jack Fruge must stand trial on forgery and conspiracy charges in a scheme tied to the Senate payroll involving Elouise Stegall. The judge nixed four payroll indictments and set a March 31 arraignment with further motions to seek Supreme Court review and a possible trial after April 19.

Eight South Vietnamese fighter bombers destroyed a North Vietnamese radar station at Dong Hoi and sank four Communist ships off Quang Khe. U S jets escorted them, silencing antiaircraft as they pressed the attack in the Dong Hoi area along the South China Sea.
