San Francisco endured more than 60 aftershocks by Saturday after a 5.5 magnitude quake on Friday. Seismologists warned of more shocks as property damage ran into millions, though injuries stayed minimal. The city recalled the 1906 disaster as residents kept calm through the continuing tremors.
About 3,000 high school students took part in a two day music festival at the Northeast State campus. The event closed Saturday night and welcomed schools of various classifications based on enrollment as part of a statewide series.
Dr. Harry M. Lemert head of Northeast's Fine Arts Dept explained the program and announced ratings on sight reading and concert. Readouts list AA schools with West Monroe choir Ouachita Parish girls and choir and mixed chorus. A schools include Minden High School mix chorus and girls chorus. Four cars were in a two vehicle crash at 7 15 last night when Homer K Craig of West Monroe ran a red light at 5th and Washington A pickup truck driven by Edward Young of 1710 DeSiard Street traveling east on Washington hit the Ford on its left side The Craig car then struck a car in a parking lot Mrs Craig riding with her husband was thrown from the car and taken to St Francis hospital where x rays showed no fracture She suffered abrasions and cuts to the left leg The Young truck was damaged and both sides of the Ford were smashed Craig was charged with reckless driving

Norman Lewis Files, 1, year old son of Mayor J. M. Files, died Saturday morning after emergency operation at the UCLA Clinic in California. He had undergone tests with his mother a month earlier. Survivors include his parents, one brother J B Files, Oak Ridge, Mrs F W Files, paternal grandmother, and Mrs P P Norman, maternal grandmother, plus several aunts and uncles. He was active in school, vice president of the 1906 class, Student Council member, F F A, editor of the Oak Ridge annual, Bantam and school paper. He belonged to the Baptist Church and Boy Scouts, and helped found the Prairie Jefferson Society of the Children of the American Revolution. Funeral services planned in Oak Ridge with date to be announced.

In Roosendaal Netherlands on March 23 a 28 year old housewife gave birth to quintuplets after a six month pregnancy. None of the infants survived. the mother Mrs Cornelia Van Hassel-Htynen is reported in good condition. She already has year old twin boys.
