Virginia Josephine Frazier two is missing from the Frazier home in Chattanooga while her parents are away. Police mobilize a wide search with 18 000 school children aiding in the hunt and a full description broadcast to all schools.
Hilton Goodwin of Monroe, 26, a Naval Reserve lieutenant junior grade and Annapolis graduate of 1922, serves aboard the destroyer Parrot. He has spent much of his career in Asiatic waters and has been in and around Shanghai since last Christmas. His mother has a letter dated January 28. She awaits further news.
Mrs Anna McTyre testifies Mayer on trial for first degree murder of her daughter Shirley calling him a gentleman in every respect. She kissed him in court after saying she would have welcomed him as a son in law. Mayer says the girl spurned him for being slow and that a pistol was accidentally fired during a struggle.

The New Process Carbon Black Company conducted tests starting March 9 at Guthrie to measure a new method for extracting carbon black from natural gas. Results remain undisclosed as Dr. V K Irion and C A Barbour Jr review papers. If validated, the process could triple output and impact gas conservation statewide and globally.
The L S A extension department led a guidance themed course by Dr Frank O Kreager drawing the largest class yet at the city high school auditorium. He called guidance essential to youth, urging vocational, recreational, religious, educational, sexual, political and civic guidance and proposed forming a local Twin Cities guidance association.
Twin Cities show rapid growth as Southern Bell completes 93 new telephone installations in Monroe between February 21 and March 21. Local manager J. W. Warren notes this is the highest monthly total yet, following 89 in the prior month. The company reports its month runs from the 21st to the 21st, and Warren believes Monroe is expanding faster than ever.
Mrs J C Fant widow of the president of Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus died in a Memphis hospital after ten days of illness. She was 45. Burial will take place in Columbus.

Ruth Snyder and Henry Judd Gray pleaded not guilty in Queens Supreme Court to murder indictments. Trial set for April 11. they remanded without bail. Gray reportedly told his mother he aided in the killing. Snyder denies her confession. Prudential suspended $52,000 in policy payments. Snyder bought $50,000 policy in 1925 at her insistence. If convicted, life insurance goes to Snyder's estate until his daughter is of age. Snyder was buried yesterday. Mrs. Snyder did not attend the funeral.
Francis Richard an 18 year old of Houma and Paul Ramagas of Whitecastle died in New Orleans today from gas asphyxiation after Richards attempted suicide. Their bodies were found in a gas filled room they occupied while working in the city. The coroner noted family illness as a possible stress factor. Richard was found near an open gas jet, Ramagas in bed, as a roommate described smelling gas and entering the room through a window.
Dr Knute Houck detained in Albany will not be brought to Washington for the inquest on his wife found in the Potomac. WA Attorney Gordon said there is no evidence of crime and a further coroner's inquiry will await chemical analysis of body tissues, expected days away.
Tomorrow, March 25, marks the final day to qualify for city spring primary offices. Expected contests include mayor, finance and public utilities, parks and streets, four school board seats, and six Democratic executive committee posts. Incumbent Mayor Arnold Bernstein is running. D A Breard seeks re election against C A Green for finance and utilities. Will Atkinson seeks re election in parks and streets with City Judge Charles Schulze opposing. Schulze plans to qualify today. The current school board membership is noted.
In Los Angeles on March 24 drivers benefited from a price war as independent stations in southern California faced possible extinction. Pan-American Western Petroleum cut to 14 1/2 cents tax paid, while other majors held at 16 1/2 cents after last week’s slash. State tax is two cents in the mix.
Admiral Williams report says civilians killed and wounded as U S destroyers Noa and Preston and British Emerald shell Cantonese forces at Nanking near the Standard Oil plant. American consul and family among those evacuated. about 100 American sailors took part in the landing. Casualties include some Americans and a British consul general wounded. conditions unclear.

Five people are reported killed and three shot in cities including Brooklyn Newark Chicago Manchester Cleveland Pittsburgh. Police tighten security in the Chinese quarter amid fears of a wider outbreak.
In San Antonio Texas on March 24 a sand lot baseball game ended in tragedy when 10 year old John Carpenter slid into third base and suffered a fatal neck fracture. The accident occurred late yesterday leaving the community shaken as authorities investigate the case.
New York report says Justice Murphy criticized a man who spanked his 20 year old daughter and fined Abraham Eglington, an investment broker, 50 dollars or 12.50 dollars per spanking.
Sam Day filed in the local district court a petition against his former wife Mrs Archo Hutto Hudson Day. He seeks annulment of judgments in two suits and a third pending action. Day claims his 1903 marriage to her was bigamous since she was previously married to John L. Hudson in 1897. Hudson allegedly divorced in 1911. seven children are named from the marriage. Mrs Day had earlier sought separation custody and property partition with Day ordered to pay $50 per...
