Costly piping of Monroe gas to New Orleans opposed
A report by J L Porter for the Utilities Commissioner finds the Monroe to New Orleans gas line uneconomical. He estimates a 16 inch pipeline at 9 million plus 1.5 million for leakage, totaling about 11.97 million, with 10 years of amortization and annual costs around 2.744 million. The plan faces long pipeline needs, limited Monroe field life of 18 years, and climatic factors reducing heating load.
