Oklahoma Governor Faces Bribe Indictment Over Bank Deal
Governor J B A Robertson of Oklahoma and several Okmulgee bank officials are bound for trial on indictments alleging illegal transactions in two local banks. Robertson is charged with taking part of a twenty five thousand dollar bribe to place 150 thousand state funds in Guaranty State Bank to stave off closure. He posted five thousand dollar bond and left for the state capital. Also indicted is Fred Dennis, former state bank commissioner, who has been missing since resigning months ago.
