Bandits tricked guard Harry Vjork at the Dade County Art Museum and escaped with a silver collection valued at about 1.5 million dollars. The items belonged to Samuel Kirk and Son and had been on loan from Baltimore. the exhibit was insured for 500 thousand but valued higher. The van was later found abandoned. Vizcaya is noted as the former Deering home.
