After a joint conference the chairmen McDuffie Alabama and Harrison Mississippi said the amendments do not affect the main purpose of the measure extending the presidents power to adjust veterans allowances and federal pay, estimated at about half a billion dollars. Director Douglas of the budget bureau attended for the president.
The Democratic nomination for the congressional seat vacated by John N. Garner appears clinched for Milton H. West a Brownsville attorney based on near complete returns. West will face Carlos Watson Brownsville the Republican nominee in the April 22 special election to determine Garner's successor.
Texarkana police announced on Thursday that Charles Williams, 22, brought from Alexandria Louisiana, was identified as one of three men who last month robbed the First National Bank of Hope Arkansas of 24000 dollars.
