Four thousand American troops moved into the border region under General Pershing in an active pursuit operation against Villa. The action marks a major mobilization as forces engage cross border positions and advance into contested areas amid ongoing conflict.
American expedition crossed from Columbus into Mexico to hunt Villa. General Pershing leads operations with over twenty thousand troops, aided by scouts and artillery. Funston predicts continued advances toward Villa, with plans to confine first actions to Chihuahua state while coordinating with Mexican forces and pursuing cross-border targets.
Mer Rouge Louisiana March 14 Parker event moved from auditorium to a theater to draw a crowd. The show ran past 10 pm leaving audiences tired and the speakers refused to lecture to empty seats. Capt J K Skipwith James Wooten of Monroe and L F Seays were killed to speak while canvassing Morehouse and Ouachita parishes for Parker. Parker has a small following in Morehouse.

New Orleans March 16 Eight pardons were denied outright including two men convicted in Caddo for running blind tigers and Louis Robinson for murder in Rapides. Two were recommended for pardon, ten cases passed for future consideration, and ten clemency actions were ordered or to be released on set dates. Names include F A Nejim Charles Oberhosh Hiram Wilson L B Davison Joe Morace Milton Cappell A J Hammons and others. adjournment delayed a speaker from Lockport though campaign work continues.

A large Monroe meeting at City Hall last night voted to reorganize the Chamber of Commerce on a solid financial basis, assume debts of the old group, hire a trained secretary, and renew efforts to develop Monroe West Monroe and nearby areas. J B Babb urged businesslike operation, stressing financing and administration over fundraising.
Washington report notes a call for hearty cooperation from U S soldiers as essential and discusses funding a ten thousand dollar reserve to form a Chamber of Commerce. Brigadier General Pershing reported the first expedition reached the Mexican border and entered Mexico on the flank of the main army. About five thousand men, with aeroplanes and motor trucks, followed by two infantry regiments and artillery. Colonel Slocum met Colonel Davila who offered no resistance as Mexican civilians and soldiers cleared the path through Palomas.
Mr. F. D. Gibbs told a city hall meeting that several property owners failed to pay their share for the white way project and the city authorities saved the plan from collapsing. Inquiries seek to identify those who refused to contribute, with calls to publish names or a running list of contributors as they are collected. Some insist that readers avoid nonprogressive firms.
The French steamer Patria carrying twenty nine Americans including American Consul General Arnold was attacked by a submarine off the Algerian coast. The torpedo missed by about thirty feet. Consul Arnold later died in Lisbon the day after arrival there. The Patria was unarmed.
The first report from General Pershing praising the American expedition into Mexico was received by General Funston today. Details of the report were not released.
Secretary Baker told President Wilson that American columns pursuing Villa and bandits in Mexico were met with hearty cooperation from Carranza troops. Consul Hanna at Monterey transmitted a delayed message from Consular Agent Williams at Torreon reporting all Americans had left Torreon for the United States.
