A Wiggam column advises employers to study employees spouses to gauge happiness and behavior. It urges hiring interviews to include wives, links marital satisfaction to judgment and accidents, and promotes self help pieces on reading speed and happiness cycles. The piece promotes a booklet on happiness and a 15 cent request for mailed copies.
Glasgow prosecutors say Charles Fraser pretended to be a health inspector and asked women to undress for examinations. Fraser pleaded guilty to 22 charges of indecent behavior and waits sentencing by a higher court.
The State Board of Education listed over 78 million dollars in building needs for state colleges trade schools and special schools and urged a five year program funded by annual one fifth installments. Major requests include Southwestern Louisiana Institute 17.5 million and state colleges totals 68.5 million with other grants for trade schools and special schools.
A Baltimore area Wason car carrying two small children rolled backward for about three blocks and struck a fire plug after narrowly avoiding a loaded dump truck. The driver Miss Victor J Wojcihowski said she parked in Catonsville and left the car unlocked. One child may have released the hand brake. no injuries were reported.
Final plans announced for an education business day on May 6 led by Harry H. Hudson of the Monroe West Monroe Chamber of Commerce. The reversal of last year’s event aims to have teachers explain the education story to parents and local business leaders with broad chamber participation.
Hudson announced the Education Committee previewed the Free dom Foundation Film Winning Award playlet Its Everybody s Business The 22 minute color sound film was acclaimed as the best reel for conveying the private enterprise story to students and businessmen The film spans US growth from Pilgrims to a 20th century citizen and is shown courtesy of Ouachita National Bank for March with plans for a TV presentation if schedules hold.
W. E. Lamb of Ouachita parish American Red Cross urged support for the Red Cross and explained home service. He described aid to service families including emergency leave reports, financial help until allotments arrive, and assistance when delays occur, noting only military departments grant emergency leave or casualty reports.
Neville High School presents a Saturday science fair under Science Club sponsorship with H E Slade as faculty sponsor. The event runs 10 a m to end of day, featuring student projects on science phases and local merchant exhibits accepted Friday after 3 p.m. First place advances to a April 2 event at Northeast Louisiana State College.
