Press Club votes to reinstate AP correspondents in Mississippi
The Northeast Louisiana Press Club met in Monroe and passed resolutions urging the reinstatement of J. W. Toler and Hodding Carter, suspended AP correspondents in Jackson. The club exonerated them over biased coverage of Mississippi's three per cent gross sales tax. The group also moved toward Carnegie Medal for Mack Allen who saved a Monroe woman from the Ouachita River. Next meeting set for April 10 in Bastrop. Isaac Chapman elected vice president, succeeding O. C. Dawkins.

Prince David Sinks After Striking Coral Reef Off Bermuda
The Canadian National Steamship Prince David, 11,000 tons, grounded on a treacherous reef 12 miles off St Georges Bermuda and began sinking. All 84 passengers and 140 crew were safely ashore after transfer to the nearby Lady Somers. Poor visibility blamed for the accident. Captain C W Mackay praised for handling. A string of fires across Monroe caused more than 12000 in damages. A 31,000 loss to a Third Street home, 5000 covered by insurance on a Union Oil Mill building, and multiple smaller blazes at residences on Jackson Grammont and Ninth Streets were blamed on faulty chimneys and lint. Census Figures Show Growth in Cotton Use
February cotton spindles active reached 25,189,748 up from 25,013,759 in January this year and 25,798,034 in February last year. Cotton consumed during February was 365,075 bales, versus 358,527 in January and 341,439 in February last year. In consuming establishments 1,305,612 bales were held, with 9,093,045 bales in public storage and compresses, and February figures show 17,008,576 counted for sometime.
