Kilby prison riot erupts as five hundred inmates clash in a two hour battle. Guards use shotguns and tear bombs to quell the revolt injuring sixteen prisoners and wounding four. Warden T J Shirley tightens access to visitors and searches returning inmates.
Herbert Wade, 28, is in the city jail as Shreveport police expect his return for a Chrysler roadster theft. The car, reported stolen Sunday, was found stored at Lennon Motor Company. Wade was arrested by Sergeant W A Lenard early this morning after the roadster was located. Shreveport authorities planned to send for both the suspect and vehicle today.
Tonight at 7 30 the city hall council chamber hosts a special meeting on vocational selection for teen boys and girls. C C Huffman of Shreveport and A Shuart Reed of Atlanta preside, both YMCA officials. Mayor Arnold Bernstein plans to attend with many public school teachers and invited parents.
Dr Charles E Barker renowned lecturer in Rotary circles will headline events tomorrow in the Twin Cities. He will address high school students at 11 am, speak at a civic club luncheon at 12 30 pm, and lecture to mothers at 3 45 pm, all free of charge and aimed at youths and parents.
Shanghai March 14 The body of Sergeant James B. Montague United States Marine Corps was found today in the Whangpoo river Police believe he was murdered He was a longtime Marine native of Virginia and arrived with the San Diego forces on the transport Chaumont
In New York on the tenth anniversary of the Russian revolution Catharine Bary, 84, a New York dress designer, slapped Alexander Kerensky three times as he stood on stage amid monarchists and communists. Police did not detain her. Two people were hurt, two arrested, and 25 ejected as Kerensky addressed the disorder at the Century theatre.
In Jackson Mississippi County Judge A H Longino cleared the courtroom for the George E Wintz and 17 Music Box Revue cast members trial on charges of improper theatrical performance. Defense argued for public trial. judge overruled demurrer and consolidation was denied.
Chicago March 14. Three Mexican murderers escaped Will County jail with aid from letters and guards bribery before confessions, letters, and a prison diary surfaced. Juanita Gallardo of South Chicago, accused of aiding, denied furnishing saws. Bernardo Roa remains at large as the mastermind.
Governor Henry L. Whitfield is gravely ill with bone cancer and cannot live more than a few weeks or days, according to his personal physician Dr. Julius Crisler. The announcement was made from Jackson, Mississippi, on March 14.
Illi nois Central repairs restore main line between Monroe and Shreveport after a washout. Trains resume in Monroe by 8 30 p m Saturday and run on schedule. Bus service from Monroe to Tullos and Rochelle blocked by high water with a fatal drowning in LaSalle parish. Little River remains high and unclear when service to Alexandria will resume.
Dr. C. W. Goddard city physician was found dead in the Austin city jail after a shooting of City Manager Adam R. Johnson. The coroner ruled death by self inflicted throat cut with a pocket knife. City Marshal Littlepage found the body as Justice of the Peace F. R. Tanne hill certified the death.

Fred Gilmore, 45, wounded last Wednesday at a Caldwell logging camp by Claud Edwards, 25, was reported at 2 30 p m to be somewhat improved at Riverview Sanitarium. Doctors say the change gives him a possible chance for recovery despite earlier despair.

Two Buick cars provided by Lennon Motor will crash head on at St John and Grammont as Fetty demonstrates trick photography to police and fans. Shooting happens this week with local cast and scenes filmed on Monroe streets and lots.
River gauges show Shreveport at 28.5 feet unchanged while Alexandria rises 0.5 feet to 33.9. Ouachita stage falls 12 feet and Momp appears to rise 0.9 feet amid fluctuating water levels.

Lon Cottem 50 a mill fireman for the Louisiana Central Lumber Co at Standard died when his automobile plunged from a small wooden bridge into Chickasaw Creek near Urania. Body recovered at 2:30 a.m. The flood disrupts LaSalle parish oil work with impassable roads and oil pits leaking crude. Cottem leaves a wife and several children amid widespread damage from rising waters.
Firemen blame a lighted match discarded among magazines and toys for a blaze Sunday at 2:30 p m. at 1015 North Fifth Street. Mrs. George Morgan occupied the home, owned by J S Steele, with damages about 90 dollars as curtains shades and wallpaper were destroyed.
Uruguayan aviator Major Tadeo Larre-Borges was captured by Moroccan tribesmen who acted as referees in contests among his party while looting valuables. A ransom of 25,000 pesetas secured release. The group trekked three days to Cansado as they awaited rescue efforts. Larre-Borges eyed a future flight attempt across the Atlantic.
