A cyclone Thursday caused extensive damage in Provinal and surrounding areas of Natchitoches Parish. Officials report homes and structures razed by the tornado with widespread debris and power outages affecting residents.
A cyclone struck Provencal in Natchitoches Parish injuring twenty four people and killing two children. Half the town including churches, a Masonic hall, a store, and twenty five residences were wrecked with losses near 50000 dollars. The storm also damaged nearby farms and gins with several cabins and fences destroyed.
A northerly moving cyclone passed through the parish near Many Louisiana Thursday morning. It wrecked J. S. Salter's place and damaged Eli Busley and G. D. Miller homes. Thomas S. Goodman and his child were injured with Goodman killed. Wires down and creeks overflowed hinder reports.
In Alexandria Louisiana on March 14 telephonic communication was established last night with Dr. W H Sibley as part of ongoing relief efforts for destitute residents.
The report notes a fair day with a cold wave and freezing conditions. Saturday will be fair but colder, with continued chill likely through the period.
