Hector Racine aged 69, president of the Montreal baseball club and a Brooklyn Dodgers director, died in his sleep at the Ivanoe Hotel in Miami Beach after watching the Dodgers exhibition loss to the Red Sox. He had been visiting on vacation and was in good health the day before. Pitner Bob Lemon of the Cleveland Indians posted a .400 average in 1955 with four hits in ten pinch appearances.
