Winter returns to the mid gulf with wind storms snow and rain as Pontotoc Mississippi reports a tornado injuring two. New Orleans dispatch notes severe southern winter conditions with blustery winds across Louisiana and nearby areas.
A light snow flurry occurred this morning after overnight drizzle, lasting about 15 minutes before clearing to sunshine. It marked the second snowfall of the winter season.
Damaging winds broke windows in business districts as Gulf Coast states from Louisiana to Florida faced cold fronts. Snow flurries appeared in northern Louisiana and Mississippi, river floods persisted in Jackson and Rankin County, while Pearl and Amite rivers ebbed slowly.

It adds 60 million from emergency drought funds for crop loans and 1.9 million to satisfy 2,300 acres of condemnation near Fort Kamehameha Hawaii. Major General L. H. Secretary Swanson approved plans to concentrate all remaining Navy lighter-than-air activities at Lakehurst New Jersey. The dirigible base at Sunnyvale California will be converted into an air plane training center pending future airship decisions.
Washington March 12. President Roosevelt intends to take no part in the 2 billion dollar bonus dispute until a bill is enacted and laid on his desk. Representative Sabath of Illinois, who met with the president, said the president will not speak on the issue until Congress acts. Sabath added the president might suggest limiting payment to the needy or using a method other than immediate cash payment. Treasury has twice declined to state the administration attitude.

Loyalists regained control as the destroyers Psara Leon and submarine Nereus handed to loyal officers. Government seeks extradition of rebel leader General George Kamanos and 18 associates. Government planes ordered to monitor Crete.
Ouida Keeton, 33, found guilty of the so called butcher murder of her mother Daisy Keeton in Jones county Mississippi. Jury recommends life imprisonment and Judge W Joe Pack sentences her to life in the state penitentiary. Defense seeks new trial and may appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court if denied. The case could go to higher court if motion fails.
Senate opponents of the Roosevelt work relief bill voice eagerness for a quick vote on prevailing wage provisions. Senator McCarran Nevada says he has enough support to pass his wage plan, while Roosevelt allies say they can overturn a 44 to 43 previous tally. Huey Long of Louisiana indicated no delay in moving the measure.
