Adolf Hitler reportedly urged Italy Hungary and Slovakia to provide 2.6 million fresh troops to sustain the Nazi spring offensive against the Soviet Union. London advices say 1.0 million from Italy 1.5 million from Hungary and 100,000 from Slovakia were requested as Soviet losses top six million. Russians are said to be mounting mass attacks to keep German forces reeling ahead of thawed fronts.

A Bronx detective announced that John D. Cuberen, El Showbrun, and Madeline Webb were charged with homicide for the strangling of wealthy Mrs Susan Flora Reich, a Polish refugee. The body was found in an East Side hotel after a luncheon. Police had sought the trio in 11 states.
