Mrs Adele Livori 38 was beaten and left with possible skull fracture after a man entered her Jefferson Parish bedroom around 3 am and struck her with a rubber hose. She had returned from a keno club and was staying with her son. police were alerted by a passing officer. Her estranged husband was not present.
C. O. Carter a 12 year old orphan of Oil City was fatally burned when gasoline soaked his clothes while he was filling a motorcycle tank and he lit a cigarette. The accident occurred in Oil City on March 11.
Dis patches from British Honduras report a $90 000 robbery at the United Fruit office safe. Maurice ONeill, bertillon expert of the New Orleans police, flies to assist after dispatches say no local expert can follow fingerprint clues. Superintendent Ray chartered a sea plane to take ONeill to the Nicaro, the steamship bound for British Honduras four days out of New Orleans.
In Ottawa Illinois Rev James A Wilson, a Mendota Methodist pastor, fired at parishioners Amos and Mrs Elliott to protect his reputation. The grand jury weighs assault indictments as Wilson remains jailed on a 30000 bond. Witnesses describe a saintly image masking an affair with widow Emma K Wagner.
The Mississippi senate unanimously adopted a resolution expressing sincere sympathy to the family of William Howard Taft former president and chief justice. Taft was the only president to visit Mississippi in 1909 making stops in Jackson Vicksburg and Natchez.
A United Press report from Miami notes 42 state entrants and 11 Latin American contestants facing final judging tonight at Madison Square Garden for Miss United States and Miss Latin America titles. The Rio de Janeiro international pageant awards $10 000. over 50 000 seats have sold as judges assess beauty and poise for the national winner.
T. M. Ward a 70 year old retired businessman in Alexandria was attacked at his front door by a robber who claimed to be Patrolman Joe Baillie. Ward wrestled the attacker and was stabbed five times before the thief fled with empty trousers and a small sum of money. Ward was hospitalized with serious wounds.
In Steubenville Ohio area a mine fire at Wolfrun mine of Warner collieries near Amsterdam trapped 89 men. Sparks from an electric trolley pole ignited flames. 87 were rescued, Paul Borkowski 69 died later and Jack Pewoski 27 was found dead near a mine room door.
Police and county officers searched for Leo Wyman treasurer of the Shubert theatre in Kansas City Missouri after he disappeared following a Saturday shift. He rented a car and was last seen in a downtown restaurant and at the union railroad station amid fears of a nervous breakdown after a $4000 theatre holdup.
In New Orleans on March 11 the state pardon board heard a two hour appeal by counsel for J. S. Voorhies seeking clemency after his Cad do parish blue sky law conviction. He was fined $1000 and jailed six months, with several prominent local businessmen urging mercy.
Henry Ford accuses New York money interests of backing bootlegging while liquor groups cluster near his Dearborn factory to counter his dry stance. A New York World report sent a representative to Dearborn to gauge Prohibition’s impact and Ford criticizes press influence and enforcement at his plant.

Eddle of American Re.
A contract to repair the Negro high school was to be signed by city officials, P Ellis of McBryde Bourne and Kennedy, Inc., insurer, and contractor Frank Masling. The insurer will pay about 4100 to restore the building to its prefire condition, focusing on plastering, glazing, glass replacement, caluming walls, and wood finishing.
Pine Bluff Arkansas officers with two Bossier deputies and H. B. Jobe pursue the kidnapers of L. W. Quattlebaum the Pine Bluff planter who was robbed of money and jewelry. They move into Bossier Parish to locate the suspects and expect to return tonight.
In Oklahoma City on March 11 officials state 400 men and boys recovered from paralysis linked to Jamaica ginger liquor. City chemists report traces of poison in the liquor confirming a contaminant rather than an epidemic. Officials expect rapid recovery with rest.
Johnson City reports 114 victims of a mysterious paralysis with 16 more cases overnight. The day sees 56 cases in Johnson City, 15 in Washington county, 9 at the Soldier's home, 24 in Carter county, 7 in Unicoi, 2 in Sullivan. a 14 year old girl and six women are among the afflicted. No improvements observed as doctors and the state lab work tirelessly.
Episcopal clergy and lay delegates gathered in Baton Rouge for the 92nd annual sessions of the Diocese of Louisiana to designate a successor to the late Bishop Davis Sessums. The council votes Thursday night after convening tomorrow, with seven men named as candidates.
W K Henderson owner of KWKH known as Old Man Henderson becomes a grandfather. Mr and Mrs John M Temple announce the birth of a son named John M Jr Mrs Temple is Kennon Henderson formerly. Temple manages and announces at radio station KTRS.
In Ellizabethton Tennessee Mrs Lillian Masengill 42 slashed the throats of her three children with a razor and then killed herself with the same weapon. One child died. two others Blanche 9 and Fay 6 months were found alive but in grave condition. Clyde Masengill husband was away in the fields when the incident occurred and returned to find the bodies.
Charleston Missouri residents demand Col. E B Wilby resign from the army corps of engineers amid a mass meeting resolution. They accuse him of bias against jurors in federal condemnation trials and call for fair hearings and full reimbursement for land taken and value losses from the Birds Point New Madrid floodway project.
Republican support for Charles A. ONeill chief justice of the Louisiana supreme court for the U S Supreme Court gain momentum. Morgan City mayor M E Norman urged sending ONeill to President Hoover with backing from New Orleans officials and state senators. Supporters say a southern man should replace Justice Sanford.
New Orleans March 11 Jitney operators hit a snag as City Commissioner Habans said he would oppose city council approval of bonds. The ordinance requires a $5,000 surety bond per for hire driver, bond to be approved by the council. Habans called bonds from auto owners association members insurance policies and inadequate under the law.
In Yazoo City Mississippi a 19 year old wife died from a shotgun wound, another woman near death, and several others injured in a shooting near Holly Bluff. Arthur Burroughs 40, a farmer, is jailed on murder charges from a drunken spree at the home of Mrs Bessie Pippins where a party was underway.
Montgomery authorities say Moss Daniels, a Black resident, confessed to confronting two young white women within the past three weeks. He remains jailed awaiting May grand jury action. warrants charging statutory offenses have been sworn.
