Oil and gas in sizeable quantities reported from the Matt Eastern farm near Huttig Arkansas at the northwest edge of the Monroe gas field. Drilled by Black Oil and Gas Company with Monroe Homer and El Dorado negroes. Well depth 1551 feet. Dean and McMillan drillers. Gas bubbles rise in the slush pit with rainbow sheen. Extension of the Monroe field about twenty miles north and northwest could determine whether oil or gas is produced.

The sixth community sing under the local Community Service will be held Sunday afternoon from three to four at City high school auditorium. A special program is planned and the event is promoted as highly enjoyable for the entire community. Despite heavy rain, 40 attended the play leaders school, proving interest remains strong. Next session is Monday at 7 30 at City Hall. Plans for a big event at City park late next week include participation by the community chorus which will rehearse Tuesday at 7 at City Hall.
