MM Webb aged 28, a switchman of 400 Filhiol Avenue West Monroe, suffered facial burns at midnight when escaping gas from a broken lime line ignited in the Central Yard. He was taken to Francia sanitarium for treatment after investigating a minor derailment where two wheels ran off the track. The underground gas line was probably severed by the derailment and exploded when Webb approached with a lantern. No other injuries were reported.
A burglar failed in an attempt to loot Kellogg Lumber’s Bosco office near Monroe last night as the safe door refused to yield. He then looted the commissary nearby, taking two pairs of Star shoes, bacon slabs, and cigarettes while fleeing after shots were fired by the night watchman. bullets missed and the intruder escaped unharmed. The office safe had its combination knocked off and its inner mechanism punched, yet the door remained locked.
At a Monroe gathering a U formation program featured Mrs. Guetta Smith Y W C A field worker Dean J A Hardin Centenary College Professor H F Buchanan Tulane President G W Bond of LPI Senator M C Redmond E T Colton and others. Colton spoke on postwar Europe and Y M C A work across 30 countries as Redmond urged cooperative foundation work for a Monroe Y M C A chapter to follow.
Two former Caddo grocery employees confess to the Atlantic and Pacific store robbery in Shreveport. Jack 18 and Phile Hall 24 face grand larceny charges. a third suspect is being sought in another city.
The pursuit and arrest of Williams at the Sterlington railroad trestle followed a night store robbery attempt on a Sterlington Union parish area store. Gibson denied knowledge of the crime while a pistol with two empty chambers was found on his person. Williams, about 49, had prior whiskey possession conviction and was captured after the crime. Laredo troops dispute and Mexican movements added regional tension.
Ouachita parish properties list shows numerous mineral deeds and oil and gas leases transferring from multiple lessors to buyers. Moody Beagraves in Shreveport stated by telephone to The News-Star that title changes will not affect field operations.

After a seven hour clash in Juarez, Americans suffered two dead and another wounded. A 2 year old girl Lydia Roberta was fatally struck by a stray bullet in El Paso. Teddy Barnes, a bartender, was found dead near the Hotel Rio Bravo. A 6 year old child survived a stray bullet wound. Estimated casualties included thirteen federal soldiers and rebels killed with many wounded. 5310 Mexican federal troops and families were interned at Fort Bliss under a truce reached at the international bridge. General Ramos and General Valles agreed to cease hostilities after US officer Colonel Kenyon A. Joyce intervened, and troops were withdrawn into the United States guarded by US soldiers. Three Mexican officers occupied quarters at Fort Bliss.
Greenwood Jones, 19, sentenced to three years for forgery and theft, confessed to stealing and stripping H. Murray's car. He implicated John Marble and W. C. Clark, with detectives locating the car parts at 1800 Eighteenth Street and arresting Marble and Clark. The car was stolen from Harrison Street and found at Breard and Tenth streets.
A false alarm triggered the fire department at 11:50 p.m. Box 212 was pulled at Eleventh and Adams streets but no fire existed and the caller could not be found.
