Trooper Shot on Hamburg Highway In Morehouse Parish
A state trooper tentatively identified as Johnny B. Mitchell of Austin West Monroe was shot twice in the stomach on the Hamburg highway in Morehouse parish at 11 37 this morning. Three men were reportedly apprehended just north of the state line. The wanted car is a 1956 Ford Arkansas 105 542. An ambulance carried the trooper to Bastrop General Hospital.

Training Plane Pilot Bails Out Over Arkansas
In Arkansas a T33 training plane crashed into a barn near Stuttgart and burned. 2nd Lt. William Ebbinghaus, a student officer from Greenville Air Force Base, bailed out during a solo navigation flight and landed in a swamp about 25 miles away. His wife is from Greenville and his parents live in Mendota Illinois. The crash damaged a house and fire followed the crash. the cause is not known.

Avalanches Kill 22 in Norway Towns
Avalanches hit three northern Norwegian communities last night killing at least 22 people. Skredbukt suffered 14 deaths, eight children and four women among the dead. Rescuers saved two boys from a second story window after their home was swept into Sigerfjord.
