Tax Cut Likely Won’t Reduce Louisiana Tax Take
UPI reports U S Internal Revenue District Director Chester A Usry says the tax cut may not lower Louisiana residents total payments this year due to a rising economy. Baton Rouge business dean William D Ross Jr claims the cut will boost take home pay and disposable income, spurring retail wholesale trade and industrial investment. The state has run ahead of last year, with a $37 million increase July to December, helping offset the $81 million expected loss. Federal tax payments last year hit a record $820 million. a study on the program will be released soon.

Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. today at Lone Pine Baptist Church Crowville for Temmy Lynn Bullock two month old daughter of Mr and Mrs J Foster Bullock of Delhi. Rev Jack Baucum will officiate with Rev C W Jones assisting. Burial will follow at Crowville Masonic Cemetery under Kidder Cox Funeral Home direction. The infant died at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans Wednesday night. Other survivors include mother and others.

A 12 man jury in Fourth District Court found Sharman Hearn and Beatrice Hearn, both of Columbia, guilty of unauthorized use of a shotgun valued at $50. Nettie Roberts of Monroe pleaded guilty to simple burglary and received a suspended five year term. Patterson, 33, a Navy pilot and Houma, Louisiana native, was killed when his Douglas A4B Skyhawk crashed near Nellis Air Force Base eight miles from the field during a cross country flight.
