A filed protest challenges the declaration of Dr. Forsythe as nominee. Mr Speed contests the returns and seeks review of the promulgation actions by the electoral authorities.
The Monroe City Democratic Executive Committee met at city hall to proclaim results from the recent primary. Dr. Forsythe was declared the Democratic nominee for mayor after denying a protest alleging miscounts and irregularities.
A new through service named the Monroe Natchez and Womble Express will run from Monroe to El Dorado Camden Gordon and Womble with connections at Collinston to the New Orleans and Northwestern line. The service restores direct travel to points along the Iron Mountain route and is supported by Progressive League efforts and local business interests.
Four aviators led by John Frisbee of world wide fame prepare sensational flights as Monroe expects the biggest crowd yet for the aviation meet on April 5 and 6.
Albany March 6 with the forty first ballot for the United States Senate deadlocked as no quorum appeared. Gov Dix sent a messenger to New York to pursue a settlement amid the stalled contest and ongoing stalemate in the Senate fight.
