Duveray Given Year in Prison by Judge Garrett
James Duveray aged 61 was sentenced to one year in Angola state penitentiary after pleading guilty to breaking into Mrs. T. H. Bunchs home on February 7. He was identified by Mrs. Bunch and arrested by Monroe detectives. Also jailed for 60 days were Jenette Wright 44 for prostitution and Helen Edwards for theft. Lee Henderson a Negro received six months for simple battery.

Auto Driver Suffered Broken Leg in Monroe Crash
John Humphries of Monroe broke his leg and suffered cuts when his 1948 Buick struck a parked Chevrolet at Thomas and Jackson streets. Witnesses said he was on the wrong side of the road. The Chevrolet owner was not located by late Monday.

Two Accused Burglaries Suspects Returned to Monroe
Two men Joseph Hofler 18 of 906 Alabama Street and James Foster 17 of 305 Filhiel West Monroe were brought back by Monroe detectives from Lonoke Arkansas. Arkansas authorities recovered stolen items from Star Furniture Company worth 137.75 including two revolvers two automatics three boxes of ammunition two knives and a holster. The suspects signed statements admitting burglary and were transferred to Ouachita Parish jail.

Bastrop Woman Dies in Crash in Sorrento Louisiana
In a one car accident near Sorrento yesterday Mrs Eliza Curtis of Bastrop was killed and three other Bastrop residents were injured lightly. Mr and Mrs William Davis and Mrs Oliver Haynes were treated at Baton Rouge General. Mrs Haynes daughter was uninjured. Funeral services for Mrs Curtis will be held in Bastrop with burial in Snyder Arkansas.
