Ben Mondello, 16, confessed he killed his father Pasimo Mondello after claiming the farmer had cruelly threatened his sister and attacked the girl. The sister, though incoherent, said she reported the alleged offense to her brother as authorities pursued the case.

Arthur Dolan, a Chicago resident, was killed while trying to mediate a collision between two drivers. He stood at the curb and offered his eyewitness account when a car jack handle struck him on the head. The assailant fled, and Dolan never regained consciousness.
