Exploration Scholarships Open to Curious Pupils

Kenneth J. Rabben reports that Exploration Scholarships funded by US Office of Education and private sponsors invite students aged 15 to 21 to travel with scientists. Applications due March 16 with winners announced April 16. funds cover up to eight weeks, average 1500 dollars, with full and partial awards.

Scholarships to fund archaeology expeditions across world planned

Year 40 Model Cities scholarships are expected this year. The program opens to all who can meet the requirements, not just top students. Expeditions include digs in Israel at Ubeidiya and Einger, Egyptian temples in December, Nevada's Monitor Valley, and Mayan site Becan in Yucatan, plus eclipse study in the Sahara and trips to Kenya and Md. St. Mary's City. Last year 44 scholarships awarded. BIA accounted for ten.
