Fred Hanna reports February 1936 car licenses reached 19,303 up from 15,405 in February 1935. The gain over last year totals 3,898 licenses, and 11,341 plates were issued in February the highest for the month.
Ed Zimmon a 43 year old Black resident of Lake Providence was killed when struck by a car driven by Mrs. Albert Surles. Witnesses said he stepped into the road. officials deemed the accident unavoidable. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon.
Ruston La March 2 Special two principal speakers for Louisiana Tech commencement week were announced by President Bond Dr Wade H Boggs pastor of First Presbyterian Shreveport and Dr E L Stephens president of Southwestern Louisiana Institute Lafayette Will the ceremonies be held at the stadium or indoors if rain and may be staged in the stadium in the evening between 5 and 7 oclock The senior class supports the stadium plan though no official action has been taken by the president or faculty committee

More than 100 members of the Southern Tenant Farmers union lived in tents since eviction in January. Planters and union officials discussed fair contracts and continued union membership. A leading colonist left town voluntarily easing tensions after dynamite accusations, which officials called a publicity stunt. Governor Futrell called the uproar much ado about nothing.

McCorvey Sr. of Mer Rouge, died in a Monroe hospital after a long illness. The Mer Rouge funeral date was to be decided, with interment at Oak Ridge cemetery. Fox was described as a talented musician and a school dropout after illness.
