Britain crushes Afghanistan plot in Simla dispatch
In Simla June 20 the British army said Waziristan warriors' plot to topple Afghanistan's dynasty was crushed and the Syrian holy man Saiyd Mohamed Sadi was seized. He was to be deported to Syria. Waziristan levies moving toward Afghanistan were dispersed. Britain cited a treaty obligation to protect Afghanistan. Some linked the plot to Palestine tensions or King Amanullah's bid to reclaim the throne.
