Providence R I June 29 The case of James KE O'Brien a young factory employee charged with shooting and killing his sweetheart Beatrice Walter on the night of May 41 came up in court today for a preliminary trial. O'Brien says the girl killed herself in a death by own action pact with him but that his efforts to kill himself failed.
The sundry civil appropriation bill passed the Senate includes a 150000 dollar grant for a 1917 reunion of Federal and Confederate veterans at Vicksburg National Park. Funds will cover tents rations and supplies under War Department direction. The amendment was pushed by Senator Cummins with support from Vardaman and Williams.
