Baltimore June 29 The Democratic leaders abandoned further attempts to break the deadlock at 3:95 this morning and adjourned until 1 pm hoping to reach a presidential nominee by conference. Twelve ballots were cast with Champlark gaining on ballot ten when New York's 90 votes shifted to him. Clark rose to 556 but fell 170 short of a two thirds majority.
The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled an advance of one cent per hundred pounds in freight charges for hardwood and yellow pine lumber from Southwest origins to St. Louis as justified.
